The DNSimple name servers are ns1.dnsimple-edge.com, ns2.dnsimple-edge.net, ns3.dnsimple-edge.io, and ns4.dnsimple-edge.org. For DNSimple to provide DNS for a domain, the domain’s delegation at its registrar must list these four name servers. What are the DNSimple name servers?

- ns2.dnsimple-edge.net
- ns3.dnsimple-edge.io
- ns4.dnsimple-edge.org
These name servers are authoritative only: they answer for the zones hosted at DNSimple, and return REFUSED for anything else. Do not use them as a DNS resolver.
Do I need to change my name servers?
- You registered the domain with DNSimple: the name servers are already set to DNSimple’s. There is nothing else you need to do.
- You transferred the domain to DNSimple: the name servers stay as they were, unless you selected when you started the transfer. When you are ready for DNSimple to provide your DNS, change your name servers to DNSimple.
- The domain is registered somewhere else: change the name servers at your registrar. See Delegate a Domain from Another Registrar to DNSimple.
What are the IP addresses of the DNSimple name servers?
If your registrar asks for IP addresses, for example to create glue records, use these:

What are the legacy name servers?
Older DNSimple name server hostnames are legacy. They still resolve, to the same IP addresses as the dnsimple-edge names above, but we strongly recommend switching any domain that uses them to the dnsimple-edge names. The edge names are spread across four TLDs, and their domains are being signed with DNSSEC. Learn more in How We Built a Fully Independent DNS Cache Edge. The legacy names are:
