The TTL (Time-to-Live) determines how long DNS resolvers cache a record before requesting it again. To learn more about what TTL is and how it works, see What Is Time-to-Live?. For DNSimple’s TTL options and defaults, see the DNSimple TTL Settings Reference.

Changing the TTL

  1. If you have more than one account, select the relevant one from the account switcher at the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. On the header, click the tab.
  3. Locate the relevant domain, and click on the name to access the domain page.
  4. Click at the top right of the domain page.
  5. In the list of DNS records, find the record you want to update.
  6. Click the three-dot actions menu at the end of the record row, then select .
  7. In the TTL (Refresh Rate) menu, select a new value. The options range from 1 minute to 3 days, and new records default to 1 hour.

To set the TTL on a new record, choose it in the same menu when you add the record.
